Job Description Summary:

TAMUG Peer Educators provide student-led support services to assist entering students in making a successful academic and social transition into college life. Peer Educators are full-time students who provide outreach, support and training to help students become familiar with University resources and the campus culture, develop and cultivate social relationships, and instill a sense of “community” to enhance student retention. Students must Attend Peer Educator staff meetings, Attend Summer Peer Educator Training, Provide coverage for the Peer Educator Center, Submit paperwork timely, and Conduct training on social and behavioral issues.

Roles and Responsibilities:

50% - Greeting visitors to the Counseling and Career Services office.  Answering telephones, signing students in to see Staff through the check-in system. 

30% - Prepare and execute Health/Wellness events engaging fellow students. 

20% - Other duties as assigned. 

General Qualifications:

-Ability to work with and handle confidential information (you will be required to sign a confidentiality waiver)

-Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

-2.0 or above cumulative GPA

-At least sophomore status

-Enrolled full-time and in good standing with TAMUG

-Excellent oral and written communications skills

-Demonstrate knowledge of campus resources

-Knowledge of issues related to diversity

-Ability to interact with a diverse population of students

-Ability to conduct training sessions and/or seminars.
