Job Title: Student Wellness (SWELL) Instructor

Classification: Part-Time Adjunct Faculty – Teaching (May be day or evening courses)

This position may result in multiple hires. Classes are offered day and/or evening, as assigned by the department. The possible subjects this posting will include are: Yoga, Indoor Cycling, Running, Racquetball, Soccer, Tennis, and/or Weight Training.

Note: pending COVID-19 decisions, classes may be cancelled or taught remotely.

Required Degree: Bachelor’s Degree; Preferably in Physical Education, Recreation Management & Youth Leadership, Exercise Science & Wellness, Student Affairs or related field.

Experience: One year professional work experience or the equivalent (preferably in teaching, physical education, and/or coaching). Upon employment, must have additional certifications and/or licenses as needed per class subject (i.e. meditation, yoga, pilates, indoor cycling, etc.).


  • Must have current First Aid, CPR & AED certifications.
  • Teach scheduled class(es) (including beginning/ending on time, tracking attendance and participation, administering an exam, and entering grades)
  • Instruct students in assigned course topics (explain proper techniques, demonstrate activities, and meet course learning outcomes).
  • Prepare appropriate materials, equipment, and music as needed for each class.
  • Assist students, answer questions, and maintain a positive exercise experience.
  • Keep supervisor informed of student and facility/equipment needs.
  • Ensure safety standards are met and department/University policies are adhered to.
  • Instructors may teach either day classes, evening classes or both day and evening classes.
