Job Summary:
The Office of Undergraduate Retention serves all undergraduates at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with special attention to first-generation college students, transfer students, and students with academic challenges. The mission of the Office of Undergraduate Retention is to advocate for student success and graduation equity. The Office of Undergraduate Retention supports a diverse population of undergraduates through an ongoing developmental journey toward graduation that empowers them to take responsibility for their education while becoming globally aware, ethical leaders. The Student Success Specialist will report to the Associate Director for Undergraduate Retention and focus on providing outreach and support to students with academic challenges.  
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and three or more years of experience working with undergraduates or college access programs. Candidates with a Master's degree who have at least one year of experience working in a college or university environment are preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, keen attention to detail and organizational skills, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset are required. Undergraduate Retention supports a diverse student population and candidates with experience working with diverse student populations are strongly preferred. Individuals with polished presentation skills, an ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, and who are solutions-oriented, innovative thinkers are preferred. The position may require some evening and weekend hours for group workshops and events.Bachelor's degree in an Arts & Sciences field or a relevant area required; Master's degree preferred.
