Job Description


A special project assistant is needed for June through October to assist with making a digitized collection of audio recordings accessible. Will assist with: 

  • improving descriptions of the recordings
  • working with Native American communities in Oklahoma to determine sensitive content in the recordings
  • programming for an associated library exhibit


Job Requirements


Required Education: Must be enrolled as a student in good standing at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status. 

  • Must attach SPRING, SUMMER, and/or FALL 2019 class schedule 

  • Must be able to work 10 - 20 hours per week from June through October. 


Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Regular bending, stooping, lifting, reaching and climbing stairs.
  • Must be able to work with audio recordings that do not have transcriptions.

Department Preferences:

  • Must have extensive knowledge of the culture of Native American nations in Oklahoma, including being able to recognize different types of Native American music and to recognize the sound of different Native languages. 
  • Aptitude for detailed work with audio recordings and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work with tribal communities in a knowledgeable and respectful manner.
