Job Description

GTRI’s Co-operative Education (“co-op”) program offers you extensive opportunities to participate in diverse scientific and technological endeavors, use state-of-the-art equipment and rapidly improve your technical and leadership skills. The program allows you to alternate three semesters of full-time work at GTRI with semesters of full-time school. 

GTRI’s Cybersecurity, Information Protection, and Hardware Evaluation Research (CIPHER) Lab seek co-ops to start Spring 2022. You will be working with the Secure Information Systems Division on developing and maintaining web application software for a variety of different projects and will use HTML, CSS, Javascript, Java, and OracleSQL in your day-to-day activities. The primary job function will be a combination of User Interface Design/Implementation as well as Web Server maintenance with Java and communicating with our OracleSQL database backend. You will have the opportunity to interface with other co-ops, as well as professionals while developing secure web applications for the division’s cutting-edge research projects.


Required Minimum Qualifications

Co-op

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
• 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
• Must be eligible to be approved by your college/university to participate in a co-op program and register for co-op credit with your university during work terms. The first work term will begin in January 2022.
• Must be able to complete at least three full-time co-op terms (alternating three terms of full-time work at GTRI with semesters of full-time school) prior to graduation


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript, Java, and OracleSQL
• Strong interpersonal and team skills
• Familiarity with Linux and open source tools
• Configuration management tools
• Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to technical and non-technical team members
• Ability to quickly learn new software applications and tools

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.


Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance upon hire
