Job Summary

The Civil Engineering Intern position provides project engineering support for capital and in‐house construction projects as well as participate in building stewardship activities.

 

  • Assist with locating and researching archived plans and documents to assist with building facility condition assessments, roadway and sidewalk asset management planning, and capital project support.
  • Work with engineering staff to help with documenting and updating inventory condition information for civil/site campus assets such as roadway pavements, sidewalk and bike path pavements, and storm water infrastructure. Work to include field data collection, data base and/or spread sheet organization, working with Roadsoft, working with ArcGIS, editing PDF’s, and creating presentation level exhibits.
  • Help build asset management life cycle models to aid in developing multiyear project plans.
  • Aid engineering staff in meeting stormwater regulatory permit requirements. Work to include assisting with field inspections of construction site storm water management, assisting with field inspection of post construction storm water facilities, and aid in coordinating with the Tippecanoe County Partnership for Water Quality (TCPWQ).
  • Other activities may include providing assistance with data processing, surveying, archival documents retrieval, GIS mapping, and CAD support to capital asset management engineers, project managers, and planning staff.

 

The initial work assignment will begin May 2022 and could continue up to May 2023. This position could be a year‐round employment opportunity with continued employment dependent upon satisfactory academic and work performance. Preferred candidates would be at least in their sophomore year.  This position is approved up to 20 hours per week during the spring and fall semesters and 40 hours per week thru the summer.  

Qualified Candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:  Enrolled Purdue University undergraduate students at the sophomore level or above will be considered.  Minimum GPA 2.8.
