Responsibilities
The Department of Medicine – Pulmonary unit is seeking to hire a student worker to assist with performing 3D culture of cultured cancer cell lines and patient-derived samples. The project includes: optimization of the incubation conditions to create 3D cultures of cancer or normal cells; performance of drug treatments in a high-throughput format; evaluation of the response of the spheroids to the treatment by measurement of the spheroid area; performance of viability assays.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
•Must be a current UCLA student
•2 years research experience with direct bench work experience
•Experience in 3D cell culture
•Experience in formation of organoids from tumor and normal cells
•Experience in soft agar colony formation assay
•Ability to understand instruction manual and other laboratory-related materials
•Ability to understand and execute given lab protocols
•Knowledge of University guidelines pertaining to biological safety including chemical and biomedical waste management is preferred
