Summary

A part-time student helper position is available immediately in the Kaochar lab at Baylor College of Medicine (Hematology-Oncology Section).  Talented post-bac Student Helper will conduct research in the area of prostate cancer health disparities, under close supervision of senior investigators. Student Helper will collect and verify research data, conduct data analysis using various research methodologies, assist with new cancer model generation, and write research reports. Research endevors will provide student helper with an opportunity to learn scientific research methodologies.


Job Duties

 

  • Performs laboratory work in molecular and cellular biology including but not limited to DNA preparation, RNAa and protein extraction, quantitative PCR, proliferation and cytotoxicity assays, and tissue culture (animal and human). 
  • Reads literature and confers with superiors regarding new procedures and modifies them according to the needs of the project. 
  • Records and evaluates data obtained in accordance with methods requested.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School or College Student (undergraduate or graduate).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in the area of biological sciences, computer science, or mathematics.
