Job Description

Under general supervision from the Director of Student Recruitment, develops and coordinates undergraduate and/or graduate student recruitment initiatives to include recruitment campaigns, events, admissions, and cultivating community partnerships. Responsible for ensuring that recruitment program goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation priorities. This position is based on the Downtown Phoenix campus but supports recruitment initiatives, activities, and goals for all Edson College programs and locations. Performs duties for the Director in his/her absence.

Salary Range

$48,000 - $52,000 per year: DOE


Essential Duties

  • Develops, coordinates, and implements strategic plans for the recruitment of undergraduate (first-year and transfer) and graduate students. 
  • Assists in the coordination and direction of Student Support Specialists, Student Support Specialist, Srs, and student employees. 
  • Supports the hiring and training of new team members. 
  • Coordinates – including planning and implementation – recruitment programs and events for college/department. 
  • Represents the college/department and serves on various department and university committees. 
  • Serves as point of contact for prospective students and acts as a liaison with the community, students, faculty and staff in facilitating college/department recruitment plan. 
  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with lead faculty members, community partners, businesses, community colleges, high schools and organizations identified in the student recruitment plan. 
  • Develops, plans, and facilitates workshops, meetings, recruitment events, campus tours and presentations with high impact on program; coordinates logistics, scheduling and participant communications. 
  • Maintains contact with prospective students; assist with admission process, registration procedures. 
  • Responds to student questions and concerns in a timely manner. 
  • Assists with escalations and/or student service issues. 
  • Documents contact with students including campus visits, phone calls, and emails. Maintains files. 
  • Works collaboratively with academic units and services throughout the university to facilitate student support. 
  • Assists in the development, editing and distribution of recruitment items, brochures, presentations, and documents. Initiates and prepares administrative reports and documents.
  • Supports new student welcome/orientation programming for both undergraduate and graduate students.  
  • Works closely with faculty and staff to meet recruitment goals. 
  • Assess recruitment programs and events for effectiveness. 
  • Attend local and statewide seminars, events, workshops and conferences.
  • Recommends and monitors compliance with department policies and procedures. 
  • Assists with budget-related projects. 
  • Initiates and prepares administrative reports. 
  • Develop work plans in accordance with established unity and department objectives and funding limitations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Master’s degree 
  • Experience recruiting, advising, or providing student success support to undergraduate and graduate students. 
  • Experience presenting to small and large groups of students – both in-person and in virtual environments. 
  • Experience creating documents – handouts, presentations, brochures, email templates, etc. – to support recruitment or student success. 
  • Experience developing a recruitment plan and implementing recruitment strategies. 
  • Experience identifying target populations and organizing events, workshops, and campus tours for prospective students. 
  • Experience supervising full-time and student staff. 
  • Experience maintaining student contact list for recruitment, advising, or retention purposes. 
  • Experience in organizing and prioritizing work activities. 
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships 
  • Experience with budget management. 
  • Evidence of effective communication, both verbal and written. 
  • Experience in using  personal computers and related software.

Working Environment

  • Use of computer equipment and software

  • Work in an office setting and use office equipment (i.e. printers, copiers, fax machines, telephones) 
  • Use a personal or ASU vehicle to travel to different campuses
  • In-state and out-of-state travel. 
  • Use basic math and a calculator

  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and travel moderate distances to perform work 
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds 
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts 
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
