Job Description Summary | The Fowler School of Engineering is looking for an enthusiastic Student Support Liaison. The student position is responsible for the management of a potential Fowler Engineering student’s academic journey from high school , until matriculation, and through graduation at Chapman. The candidate will consult with the outreach and recruiting coordinator in the Fowler School of Engineering. |

Responsibilities | ● Serve as recruiter, peer advisor, liaison and community builder for prospective and current Fowler Engineering students. ● Participate in student recruitment activities and special events such as Discover Chapman Day and Preview Day. ● Promote Fowler programs to increase student engagement. ● Contact potential students leads as distributed by Fowler Outreach and Recruiting Coordinator via phone, email, and/or text messages or any other pertinent communications means ● Follow up on non-responsive leads ● Set appointments with interested potential students and send reminders about these appointments as needed ● Answer potential student questions to best of ability and refer specific questions about programs to program directors or faculty ● Provide information to students on matters pertaining to academic life (e.g. curriculum, study habits, time management, note-taking, test prep, general education curriculum, major-specific requirements, add/drop process, course selection, registration, my.chapman.edu, etc.) ● Provide mentorship and guidance to students recruited ● Experience in event planning & strong organizational skills ● Experience planning social, academic, or professional events ● Familiar with graphic design tools such as Canva or similar applications ● Actively checking/using Slack and Outlook |
Required Qualifications | ● A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 ● Proven academic commitment, leadership abilities, teamwork experience, organizational skills, problem-solving competencies, demonstrated appreciation of diversity and a vibrant commitment to Fowler Engineering and Chapman University ● A minimum one-year commitment is required. ● Availability to work 5-10 hours per week between the hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. ● Must adhere to university confidentiality guidelines including FERPA and complete training within the first two weeks of employment. ● Flexible, able to work with a variety of personality types ● Excellent communication skills ● Internet use/search ● Able to multi-task and respond in a timely manner to requests for information pertaining to Fowler programs ● Proficient in various social media platforms ● Professional appearance and demeanor ● Excellent professionalism |
