General Information
The Center for Assessment & Research Studies (CARS) plans and executes the campus-wide Assessment Days that are held in fall for freshmen, and spring for upperclassmen. CARS also houses faculty, staff, and graduate assistants in the Assessment & Measurement PhD and Quantitative Psychology MA programs. This student position will provide office support to the Assessment Day team, as well as to the faculty and staff of the Center on a wide range of duties as described below.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide support to the assessment day planning team in preparation of future assessment day events and breakdown of materials post-event. This includes management of materials used for testing, as well as some data entry and piloting of new test materials/new testing technologies. In some instances, student assistants are required to serve as proctors for assessment testing.
 
Provide general office support to the faculty and staff of the department. This includes various tasks such as delivery of documents on campus, filing, printing, copying, scanning, and other clerical office tasks. 
 
Maintain a small departmental library by cataloging new books purchased, re-shelving books, and checking books back into the department when they are returned. 
 
Provide support for department in regards to national visibility and marketing initiatives. This could include updating departmental blog, creating or proofing materials to be distributed at conferences, and updating social media sites on behalf of the department. 
 
Other duties as assigned. 
 
This is an office setting position that operates on regular business hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Applicants must have availability during these hours. Actual schedule of working days/hours will be determined upon hire.
Qualifications
Required: 
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs. 
- Strong communication skills; both written and interpersonal. 
- Professional behavior/presentation in both face to face interactions as well as written/online interactions. 
- Attention to detail. 
- Reliable and trustworthy; ability to work with limited supervision. 
- Self-starter; willingness to take ownership of tasks and contribute ideas. 
 
Preferred, but not required: 
-Leadership skills; or a desire to build these skills throughout the course of employment. 
-Familiarity/comfort working with various types of social media platforms, marketing strategies, and creation of professional materials. 
 
 
Preferences given to students with a major related to Psychology, or an interest in research, statistics, and/or quantitative psychology.
Conditions of Employment

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
