Summary

The Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a part time Student Researcher (~10 hours/week) to work on research studies relating to the ethical, legal, and social implications of pediatric deep brain stimulation and AI-based personalized risk prediction for heart failure patients.  This is a non-laboratory, non-clinical position.

Job Duties
  • Assists with day-to-day activities of the project, including IRB protocols, organizing project files and organizing project activities, and meetings.
  • Coordinates with co-investigators, collaborators, contractors, and staff to move project forward.
  • Schedules and organize project meetings, including developing agendas.
  • Assists with the development of interview guides and participate in interviews with patients, caregivers, and clinicians.
  • Prepares progress reports for key stakeholders, funders, and clinicaltrials.gov.
  • Prepares and assist with preparation of presentations for dissemination of findings.
  • Provides research and writing support, including conducting comprehensive literature and assisting with manuscript preparation.
  • Maintains and update project website.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a High School or College Student (undergraduate or graduate).
  • Experience Required: None Required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master's degree program in basic or health sciences, sociology, philosophy, bioethics, or a related field required.
  • Experience in project coordination, clinical research and/or qualitative interviewing.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for data tracking and reporting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. 
  • Capable of multi-tasking effectively, prioritizing complex deliverables, and working independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
  • Candidate should be extremely dependable and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. 
  • Demonstrated analytical and written communication skills, including proficiency in scientific writing.
