Summary
The specific duties of the student helper will be to assist with whole-cell patching methods to probe the cellular diversity of brain circuits across cortical areas and species at the level of morphology, electrophysiology and transcriptome.
Job Duties
- Assists researchers using whole-cell patching methods, single-cell RNA-sequencing and immunochemistry to probe morphology, electrophysiology and transcriptome of the individual neurons of brain circuits across cortical areas and species including humans.
- Performs in vivo multi-photon imaging and multi-electrode recordings using Neuropixels.
- Performs PCR and RNA sequencing.
- Assists with ongoing experimental work. this includes stock solution preparation, aliquoting reagents, slice preparation, etc.
- Learns appropriate protocols and procedures to support and carry out research experiments in collaboration with other lab members.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a High School or College Student (undergraduate or graduate).
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a lab setting, specifically with harvesting rodent brains.
