This position is part of the College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office communication staff.  The student will assist with communications to internal and external stakeholders, marketing, public relations events, publication, campaigns, projects and plans for the College of Arts and Sciences.


Under the supervision of the director of communications, the communications student will be tasked with:

  • Writing newsletter stories, news releases and other media communications

  • Making updates on the college and department websites

  • Social media content generation and management

  • Designing event fliers that maintain University of Oklahoma brand standards

  • Event planning, promotion and coverage

  • Photography and video

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education: Must be currently enrolled as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.


  • Must attach Fall 2019 oZONE class schedule.

  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Ability to maintain academic progress while managing a flexible work schedule

  • Highly organized and dependable

  • Effective communication skills

  • Deadline-oriented

  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize task

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Standard office environment. Must be able to travel to various campus offices. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.

Department Preferences:

  • Communications major strongly encouraged to apply
  • Experience in communications/marketing, social media, writing, graphic design, video and website management
