Primary Purpose/Function of Position: Responsible for hosting birthday parties and facilitating birthday party activities as well as working some shifts in the Discovery Room

 

Description of Responsibilities:

Discovery Room:  Works with Discovery Room staff and Museum Education staff to operate the Discovery Room, including welcoming visitors, facilitating interaction with Discovery Room objects and activities, and facilitating weekend programs in the Discovery Room. Responsibilities will also include keeping the Discovery Room organized and working with small live animals like reptiles, amphibians and fish.

 

Birthday Parties:  Works with Education Department staff to prepare birthday party materials, facilitate party activities such as scavenger hunts, stories and crafts and facilitates Discovery Room sessions. Responsibilities will also include setting up and cleaning up birthday party items and décor.

Required Education:  Must be currently enrolled as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

  • Must attach Fall 2019 oZONE class schedule.


    Advertised Physical Requirements:

    • Frequent standing, moving, reaching, and stooping. 

    Department Preferences:
    • Interest and experience working with children and families in educational environments including camps, school, youth group, scout or other group settings

    • Interest in natural history

    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

    • Great written and oral communication skills, great organizational skills

    • Comfortable speaking to small groups

    • Energetic and positive
