Job Summary

The primary job of a Graphic Design intern is to assist the Art Director, team of design interns, and the Director of Marketing in performing daily tasks to market for Student Life. The goal of this internship is to give students valuable real-world experience in the print and marketing environment. The intern should work 15-20 hours per week during the semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination at the discretion of the intern and the Art Director. The intern must be organized, and detail-oriented, possess strong typography and layout skills, and be a currently enrolled student. The ideal intern will be knowledgeable in a Mac environment. Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop is required. The intern is considered an integral part of the Marketing department and as such, their ideas and input will be valued.

• Knowledge about design elements, such as color and composition, is vital for graphic designers. Artistic ability and creativity are essential.

• Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills

• Interpersonal skills, cooperation, and knows how to work effectively within a team

• Attend a monthly staff meeting as part of his/her internship.

• Works well with others, values client feedback and adjusts designs to fit their needs. Works collaboratively to complete a successful final product.

  • Previous graphic design experience and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strives to learn new skills and strategies in technology and design
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Sharepoint
  • Excellent time management skills
