Job Summary

This position academically monitors night-time study hall for CSULB's NCAA student-athlete population. This position coordinates academic support assistance with the Bickerstaff Academic Center's (BAC) Directors, Assistant Director of Academic Support and academic advisors. Facilitate and monitor tutor and peer mentor appointments and drop-in tutoring. Provide nightly updates and reports on student academic accomplishments and tutorial session outcomes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain an academically enriching study environment for CSULB's NCAA student- athlete population.
  • Monitor live and virtual academic support sessions to ensure productivity and academic integrity compliance.
  • Maintain working knowledge and comply with all NCAA compliance, Big West
  • Conference, Athletic Department. and CSULB rules and regulations that apply to working with the NCAA student-athlete population.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of general NCAA rules, student-athletes issues and academic complexity. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with CSULB staff and students is required. Ability to work with a high profile at-risk culturally diverse population is required. Comply with all NCAA and Big West Conference rules and regulations that apply to working with the student-athlete population. Attend mandatory training with the director of compliance in the Athletic Department. Computer experience: CMS, Beach Board, Advisor Trac, GradesFirst.  Ability to work with a diverse university population and student athletes.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."


Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field and one year of directly related experience required.

Compensation

The targeted salary may be set as high as $1,581.50 per month based on experience. This is a 10 month per year position with the salary paid over 12 months.

Time Base

Half-time (.50 time-base/20 hours per week) temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date. This is a 10 month per year position with the months of June and July off. Schedule is 4 days/week, 5 hours/day, 4:00-9:00pm M-TH.
