Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Student Assistant in Neuroscience and Cell Biology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Morgue Supervisor, assists with duties related to the Anatomical Association. 
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Maintains and repairs as necessary all standard laboratory equipment, e.g., pumps, racks, tables’ mechanical lifts. 
  • Designs, procures, and assembles laboratory apparatuses for biological and chemical projects. 
  • Places selected cadavers on tables and/or in caskets. 
  • Moves caskets to RWJMS vehicle in preparation for transportation.
  • Cleans anatomy lab cadaver trays and appropriate equipment.
  • Dissects/prepares anatomical specimens. 
  • Handles additional related responsibilities as assigned at Morgue Supervisor’s discretion.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Must be a Rutgers’ student.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be able to follow detailed laboratory instructions. 
  • Maintain working area as per supervisor’s specifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Undergraduate student (freshman/sophomore level would be ideal) to allow extended continuity in the position.  
Equipment Utilized
  • Morgue environment.  Equipment used includes dissection tools (e.g., scalpels and bone saws), hoists (electric and hydraulic) and fluid pumps. 
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Ability to lift equipment, cadavers and carry boxes.  Individual has to be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. 


 
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Morgue environment.  Equipment used includes dissection tools (e.g., scalpels and bone saws), hoists (electric and hydraulic) and fluid pumps.
