About the Opportunity:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Affairs of Northeastern's Seattle Campus, the Student Services Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for learners at Northeastern University's Seattle Campus. The Specialist will have a broad yet in-depth knowledge base of the resources of the University as well as campus operations, courses and programs available through the Seattle campus. They are responsible for coordinating, advising and assisting in all aspects of the learner's experience while students are enrolled in courses and programs based at the Northeastern University - Seattle campus. Responding and assisting learners on a broad range of issues, the coordinator and will have a strong network of connections throughout the University, in the colleges, and administrative offices to refer learners to for further assistance, problem resolution or counseling.
The role of the coordinator is to provide academic and organizational support to students; enhance communication between the college, advisors, and faculty to improve student retention. Using innovative and creative approaches, this position will serve the needs of a large and academically diverse student population across multiple disciplines and campuses. The position requires extensive student contact, both in person, via phone, and electronically. This position will require excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment to create a positive learner experience.
The main areas of responsibility will be: student services, student programming and leadership, and student data management.
Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and execute student service models for the learners of the Seattle Campus, regardless of the mode of instruction or physical location of the students.
  • Work collaboratively with Enrollment Management (and Enrollment Coaching vendors) to ensure that the introduction to courses at the Seattle campus are smoothly and effectively managed and executed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external university partners and assist in managing the myriad aspects of the student experience including course registration, student financial accounts, co-op coordination, career services, and graduation.
  • Utilize CRM (Salesforce) and Student Information systems reflect an accurate student record and student reporting functions.
  • Collaborate with student support and academic program teams to effectively manage a campus orientation program as well as an effective student life experience for Seattle Campus learners.
  • Support programming efforts through logistical and academic coordination of a variety of degree and non-degree programming efforts. This may include coordinating with other Seattle Campus staff, faculty, central campus administration as well as program staff.
    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's or Master's degree in Student Services or related field with minimum of 4 years experience in academic and/or student life fields in the higher education context. Demonstrated success in the development and implementation of managing multifaceted and dynamic projects. Must enjoy working with learners and helping to guide them through their program to graduation. Flexible, creative thinker open to new ideas and changing priorities within a fast-paced organization. Strong writing, communications, project management skills and ability to manage stakeholder expectations is essential. The ability to be a self-starter and bring teams of individuals together in a collegial and empathetic spirit, whilst able to relate with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to think and act both analytically and strategically. Experience working with a student enrollment and registration databases are a plus. Finally, the individual must be able to work independently and be an integral member of a team.
