Job Summary

The Student Accounts Technician provides support for cashiering operations.


Key Responsibilities

The Student Accounts Technician provides support for cashiering operations, including payroll, posting/counting/balancing monies, preparing bank deposits, sale of student and guest parking, maintenance and collection of parking permit machines, audits of satellite cashiering operations, and other back office functions utilizing the PeopleSoft Student Administration System, CASHNet POS system, T2 parking, and OTRS systems. The position also provides customer service to students, faculty, staff, and university departments. Analyzes student accounts and processes payments, deposits, and payment agreements, all in accordance with University policies and procedures.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to be able to provide effective and quality service to customers, which include interaction with other departments.
  • Knowledge of automated financial systems and PC software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and high level of acceptance of responsibility to complete assignments, as required.
  • The ability to understand, interpret and apply complex rules and regulations to provide effective and quality customer service.
  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in order to perform accounting functions.
  • Familiar with cashiering functions so as to render optimum service. Cash handling experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be an active team member, to assist others in the office, and to accommodate rotation of job duties, staggered breaks, and variation of approved office hours and work schedules.
  • A change agent, willing to accept changes in policies, procedures, and systems and promote those changes among co-workers.
  • Ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

Equivalent to three years of progressively responsible financial record-keeping experience required. Bachelor's degree in Business or accounting preferred.

Time Base

Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.


Salary

Negotiable to $3,300 per month based on experience and expertise. The salary range for this classification is $3,210 to $5,449 per month.
