Scope of Responsibilities 

Under the administrative supervision of the Director and Clinical Director at CAPS, the staff psychologist will provide clinical services, supervise psychology doctoral interns, and engage with the campus community placing priority on combatting the ways marginalization, discrimination, and oppression negatively impact mental health. Multiple positions will be filled.

Duties

Provide individual, couples, and interpersonal process and skills based group services; Participate in the provision of mental health triage services; Administer and interpret limited assessment measures; Supervise doctoral psychology interns, Provide didactic seminars to interns; Provide campus and community engagement services through liaison relationships with faculty, staff and students; and Deliver campus and community level interventions that address cultural climate issues for oppressed and marginalized groups. Follow agency policies and procedures consistent with state mental health statutes, ethical guidelines, best practices, and HIPAA; Complete clinical documentation according to policies and procedures. (65%)

Attend staff, clinical team, and committee meetings;  Participate in ongoing staff conversations about the ways oppression, discrimination, and marginalization affect individuals and systems; Participate in committees as requested. (25%)

Attend department sponsored professional development activities; Other duties as assigned. (10%)

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years post-licensure experience.
  • Demonstrated experience providing ongoing clinical supervision to post master’s or doctoral interns and/or employees.
  • Experience providing services with emerging adults utilizing culturally responsive interventions across a range of diverse populations and presenting concerns.
  • Demonstrated experience working with one of the following populations
    • International populations, especially those from Asian, South Asian, and Middle   Eastern/North African countries;
    • Latinx populations;
    • Male identified students, masculinity and identity development
    • Transgender and gender expansive populations;
    • Students of diverse faith and religious cultures;
    • Bilingual language skills are strongly preferred.

Additional Job Specific Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrated experience and capability to work as part of a cohesive, interdisciplinary team in a university counseling center and with professionals in other campus units;
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills that facilitate organizational health;
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle competing demands, set priorities, and mange projects;
  • Demonstrated ability to make continuous progress towards strategic goals;
  • Demonstrated commitment to self-awareness and desire for growth related to antiracism; and
  • Experience in the provision of crisis intervention and consultation is essential.

Minimum Qualifications
Education

Work requires a doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited educational institution. Must be eligible for full licensure as a Practicing Psychologist as defined by the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Practicing Psychologists.


Experience

Licensure requires a minimum of two years of appropriate supervised experience, as defined by the N.C. State Board, after the receipt of a doctoral degree. Alternatively, the Board accepts one year pre-doctoral and one year post-doctoral towards the supervision requirement. The appropriateness of education and experience of applicants for licensure is evaluated solely by the Board according to statutory provisions as outlined in the North Carolina Practicing Psychologist Licensing Act.
