Description   The Smithsonian Institution (SI) in DC awards up to 2 Native American graduate students to research using SI's Native American resources for up to 10 weeks. The program is full-time, 40 hours a week. The SI is located in Washington, DC. Visiting Students pursue independently designed research projects in association with Smithsonian research staff. Native American-related resources include collections, archives, and library materials. 
Award Amount   Stipends vary by programs.

Academic Level   Prospective/Current Graduate Student.  
Citizenship   No citizenship requirements.  
Requirements   Open to Native Americans who are formally or informally related to a Native American community. Must be a graduate student. Must be interested in pursuing a research project related to Native American resources. Engaged in graduate study at the time of the appointment In good academic standing with an overall GPA of 3.0 or equivalent. Available full-time (40 hours per week) for a maximum of 10 weeks during the summer, fall, or spring. Research proposal. Transcripts. CV or Resume. 2-3 letters of references, 2 should be from the applicant's professors. Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact potential advisors and co-advisors to determine the feasibility of the proposed research being conducted at the Smithsonian Institution (SI).
