Located in the Valley of Sun in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, GCU is a regionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University.

Grand Canyon University is looking for a Academic Program Manager to work and collaborate with our first generation college students. If you would love to be in a position to help college students achieve their educational goals this role might be for you.

What you will do: 

  • Assist with the retention of first-generation college students.

  • Oversee external scholarships to ensure goals and requirements are met.

  • Prepare documents required for approval of new or revised academic programs or initiatives.

  • Gain knowledge of immigration regulations and laws.

  • Assist faculty and college/university administration with creating improvement plans to enhance student learning/performance.

  • Ambassador for partnership schools within the surrounding community.

  • Troubleshoots student issues through research and internal investigation and ensures a high level of student service.

  • May act as primary contact for all student issues related to programs and is responsible for coordinating the resolution of student issues at the college level.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.  Master's Degree preferred.

  • Minimum two years’ relevant work experience, preferably in an academic environment.  

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a good command of the English language. Spanish speaker preferred.

  • Problem-solving ability.  Able to identify problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and make final recommendations.

  • Initiative and Accountability.  Demonstrates a high level of initiative; judicious in carrying out assignments without direction accepting responsibility for results.

  • Ethics and Integrity.  Maintains a high degree of business ethics and integrity and sets example for same.

  • Computer/Technical Proficiency.  Demonstrates knowledge in navigating and maneuvering routine office software (email, MS Office Suite, etc.) and proprietary scholarship software.

  • Must pass pre-employment background check(s).
