Overview
The Office of Research is committed to assisting researchers with their proposal development and funding efforts. The Senior Grant Facilitator is charged with providing information and helping to identify one-on-one support to faculty members who are planning a proposal submission to make proposals more competitively leveraging the team of grant facilitators who can help researchers with their proposal writing efforts.
Posting Summary
Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Grant Facilitator. Reporting to the Senior Vice Chancellor of Research & Collaborations, the Senior Grant Facilitator will work with faculty and coordinate all grant facilitators around campuses, i.e., in school, departments and centers, to develop competitive proposals and to identify potential funding sources for major research and education initiatives.
This position will be responsible for and not limited to the following:
  • Lead the Grant Facilitators Group and act as a resource to all Facilitators
  • Assist faculty who are working on complex, multi-school proposals in the multi-million dollar range Emphasize promoting and assisting with the development of larger proposals across the university Identify, assemble, and manage teams from different schools and centers in response to significant funding opportunities
  • Assigned to projects such as coordinating the development of DOD, NSF, DOE, NIH, or center proposals and expanding relationships between Rutgers and the business community
  • Assists in the establishment of strategies that focuses on research contracts from companies
  • Lead specific limited competitions and internal grant programs.

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a master’s degree preferably in a scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Also requires three years’ professional experience in management or proposal development preferably in higher education.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with proposal development in campus-wide multi-disciplinary units
  • Responsibilities of the position will require exercise of a significant amount of judgement, technical expertise, professionalism and experience
  • Must deal effectively with high level executives within and outside the University
  • Must be knowledgeable of major sponsor policies and procedures
  • Strong writing, interpersonal, organizational skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a scientific discipline is highly preferred
  • Additional degree or experience in education desired
  • Comparable professional experience preferred
  • Should have strong skills in using MS Office Suite as well as familiarity with search engines.
  • Additional training and workshop development experience is preferred
  • Five or more years of management experience required
Equipment Utilized
  • Should have strong skills in using word processing and spreadsheet programs as well as familiarity with search engines, especially COS-PIVOT.
