Job Description


The Financial Aid Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of student accounts as it relates to the posting of scholarships. The Specialist position may also process federal and state awards including but not limited to Federal student loans. This position will be responsible for program management in assigned areas of responsibilities (i.e. third party scholarship platform support, general and departmental scholarship administration, etc.).
In addition, this position supports financial aid processing to include resolving student eligibility issues, performing verification, determining eligibility for financial aid, processing awards including all types of student loans, assisting with awarding of general and departmental scholarship programs, and adjusting aid- including resolving overawards.

This position also provides customer service to students, parents, faculty, staff, and public through in-person, phone, and e-mail counseling. Attending outreach events is also expected.


Required Qualifications

This position requires a self-directed person who works cooperatively, adapts easily and quickly, accepts responsibility, ensures a high level of accuracy with attention to detail, and thrives in a high-volume environment. Knowledge and skill requirements include: Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent training and/or experience. Demonstrated proficiency with standard office software. Must have proficiency in prioritizing and managing multiple competing tasks; strong communication skills, good public speaking and presentation skills; and the ability to exercise sound judgment in making difficult decisions.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a financial aid office.


Salary Information

Salary commensurate with experience, a budget max of $41,655
