Position Information

Participates with other counselors, the Assistant Director, and the Associate Director in the ongoing development and enhancement of the UCR Financial Aid Office processing system (Banner); Maintains scholarship records; presents financial aid information both on and off-campus to groups of students, campus partners and donors, Active contributor to discussions and recommends change when appropriate to better meet the needs to the populations served; Uses an understanding of the special needs and problems experienced by students from disadvantaged backgrounds and address these needs by offering supportive guidance; Composes correspondence to students and other clients relative to aid eligibility and office policy and procedures; performs special assignments and other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid, Associate Director, or Assistant Director.

The budgeted hourly/salary range for this position is $71,100.00 - $85,500.00.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time.  Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Must successfully complete a background check through the University's background check agency prior to your start date, and a fingerprint check through the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigations.

Advanced knowledge of policies, regulations, and practices for awarding financial aid. Specialized knowledge of particular programs.

Working knowledge of packaging policies and practices.
Advanced proficiency with standard office software as well as internet and email applications. Thorough knowledge of common University specific computer application programs.
Advanced problem identification, critical thinking, and problem solving skills; judgment and decision-making ability.
Advance ability to assess processes and implement improvements. Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong social perceptiveness abilities.
Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Ability to calculate and reconcile financial aid with attention to detail and accuracy.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience using complex databases; ability to define specifications for database programming. Proficiency manipulating and analyzing large volumes of data. Advanced knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.

Advanced knowledge of University policies, processes, and procedures.

Ability to maintain the confidentiality of donor files and other information; impeccable integrity and discretion in dealing with funders, donors, alumni, students, administrators, and colleagues.
