Job Type/Schedule

This position is part-time and works approximately 22 hours per week.  Position hours will include after-hours rotation including weekends and holidays to assess and treat biohazard and blood/boyd fluid exposures for employees/students.

This position is in the Department of Student/Employee Health.  This position is for the Medical School Campus.

Essential Functions


Provide direct patient care and education to WUSM students, administering treatment, medication, injections, including TB skin testing, allergy injections and phlebotomy in a primary care medical office.


  • Utilizes the nursing process in assessing, strong triage skills, planning, implementing and evaluating a plan of patient care.  Supports MD by administering IVF, treatments, phlebotomy procedures as ordered.
  • Provides patient care, which includes administering medication, immunizations, TB skin testing, performing procedures, and monitoring patients are in accordance with approved nursing practice.
  • Uses various technology to coordinate care, including multiple software applications.
  • Maintains medical records requiring appropriate and timely recording of patient information.
  • Consults with members of the health care team, adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Assists the health provider with examinations, procedures, prescription refills, and other processes related to direct patient care.
  • Maintains required skills and competencies and participates in educational programs, staff meetings, and in-services such as BLS as required.
  • Collaborates and interacts professionally with other members of the health team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Required Qualifications

    • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
    • REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:  Current state of Illinois and/or Missouri LPN or RN licensure as applicable by state of work location, in accordance with Compact Act; Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

    Preferred Qualifications

    • BSN.
    • Two years or related nursing experience.
    • Working knowledge of general nursing theory and practice.
    • Organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to utilize good clinical judgement.
    • Strong problem solving/decision making skills.
    • Ability to follow standing orders nursing triage protocol.

    Salary Range

    Commensurate with experience.
