This scholarship fund is being established to honor Randy Virden, a long-time faculty member and former director in ASU's School of Community Resources and Development. Randy Virden was on the faculty for 25 years before retiring in 2008. He dedicated much of his professional life to furthering the mission of the School of Community Resources and Development. As director, Dr. Virden oversaw the program through major changes. He was especially well known as a mentor for graduate students. This scholarship is in recognition of his years of service and mentorship.

1. Recipient shall be an undergraduate student majoring in Parks and Recreation Management at the School of Community Resources & Development.
2. A junior or senior with at least one semester at ASU included in their GPA.
3. Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.
4. Complete a personal vision statement of no more than 500 words that demonstrate a commitment to and a promise for a professional career in or related to the field of Parks and recreation Management.
5. Be recommended by at least one former or current professor from the School of Community Resources & Development.
