KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Basic computer skills, customer service, and the ability to work independently with intermittent supervision.
- Knowledge of computer operations; such as word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to write clearly and accurately, spell and punctuate properly.
- Ability to follow applicable policies, rules, regulations and ethical practices.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups and to work successfully as a member of a team.

- Knowledge of one or more of the following computer operations: graphic, photographic, and/or desktop publishing software with the ability to design print, multimedia, web and collateral materials.
- Student government experience is preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Prior work in an office setting preferred.

TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Must be a current UA student enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours throughout employment duration.
Must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA, unless a first time freshman.

JOB DUTIES:

This job provides the opportunity to assist in developing system-wide student communications and engagement processes to facilitate the flow of information to student governance groups and the general student population as needed. The successful applicant will have experience engaging in social media, internal communications and assist with website content development focused on improving student engagement and understanding of university issues.

The successful applicant also will have good interpersonal and communication skills to positively assist with office support, event planning, editing and proofreading, creating publicity/advertisements, designing and maintaining social media posts and social networking. 

Excellent customer service skills and the ability to professionally handle confidential information is required, as well as the ability to work independently with little supervision. The successful applicant must possess attention to detail, problem solving, and clerical skills; ability to take initiative, multitask, and adapt to changes in workload or conflicting deadlines; desire to learn; and, perform other duties as assigned.

HOURS:

Position will have flexible hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

NOTICE: Students must maintain enrollment and regular attendance for a minimum of at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 6 graduate credit hours to be exempt from FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax. A credit hour load below the minimum required for full-time student status will require the withholding of FICA tax (non-resident aliens on an appropriate visa who meet student employment criteria will continue to be exempt from FICA regardless of credit hour load). While in a student position, a student cannot hold any other type of simultaneous employment with the university.

Probationary Period:

Pursuant to University Regulation 04.07.020, new employees of the University are employed in an at-will probationary status for the first six months of employment.
