JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Eberly College of Science Research Office is seeking a dynamic, hardworking, highly skilled professional for the position of Proposal and Award Generalist (Advanced Professional. Work activities are performed in a large volume, fast paced, complex, detailed, and multifaceted environment. This position will work primarily on post-award activities. A strong working knowledge of government regulations and University policies applicable to sponsored research is important.

Job responsibilities will include: 

  • Providing exceptional customer service to faculty and departmental administrators

  • Preparation/maintenance of faculty salary schedules

  • Annual effort certification process for research funds

  • Processing no-cost extension requests and other special approval requests (Grant Transfers, Change of Principal Investigator, Addition of Subaward)

  • Initial setup and amendments to subawards

  • Preparation of the research section of promotion/tenure dossiers

  • Ensure that interim and final reports are submitted to sponsors

A large extent of the job entails working closely with faculty, sponsors, subawardees and other PSU offices to resolve research administration issues. The position will serve as a member of the Penn State Subaward Working Group (PSSUB). 

Education and Experience

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in SIMBA, SIMS, Workday and completion of PSU ACES program preferred. 

This position requires flexibility and self-management skills, including the ability to prioritize among a large number of tasks. Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills required. Capability to work both independently and as a team member, ability to multi-task and respond professionally in challenging situations is essential.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$51,000.00 - $74,000.00
