General Description of Position:

In collaboration with and under the supervision of the Project Director, Project Navigator will be responsible for successfully assisting and supporting Ivy Tech’s US Department of Labor Apprenticeships: Apprenticeship Building America (ABA) grant. The Project Navigator will support and manage the relationships with employers, key partners, including Ivy Tech Campuses.

This is a grant-funded position. There is no guarantee of employment beyond the grant period, which ends June 30, 2026.

Major Responsibilities:

Work with the Project Director in maintaining and improving all grant-related activities, metrics and initiatives on a statewide level and aid participating Ivy Tech campuses.

Outreach and engage prospective workforce partners through face-to-face meetings, phone conversations, social media (focus on posting and growing Linked In and/or Twitter), email, events, and other formats as appropriate.

Initiate activities to grow the apprenticeship programs in multiple sectors.

Will expand registered apprenticeship/pre-apprenticeship programs in existing and new occupational areas to meet local talent needs of employers.

Compile and analyze data to find trends based on employer needs.

Support employer and jobseekers as they navigate into state approved apprenticeship programs.

Work with employer and apprentice to ensure success of apprenticeship, troubleshoot and mitigate challenges or issues.

Contact employers post apprenticeship as needed to request employment verification.

Build long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with external contacts and internal departments.

Provide clear, consistent communication on a frequent basis to Ivy Tech staff and faculty about the progress of the grant-funded initiatives as directed.

Travel to Ivy Tech campuses and to meetings with external partners, as possible. Utilize virtual meeting technology as appropriate to conduct meetings.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree required.

Two years of related experience in higher education, apprenticeship programming, or a related activity or one year with a Bachelor’s degree.

Experience with data collection & entry is required.

Problem solving skills is essential.

Excellent project coordinator and organizational skills required.

Must be able to process and respond quickly, efficiently and thoroughly to a large variety of information requests in a positive and personal manner.

Must be able to effectively communicate and operate as a positive team member.

Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.

Ability to work under stress and demonstrate considerable patience and diplomacy is required.

Must possess ability to handle difficult situations and reach positive solutions and work on own initiative.

Strong oral and written communication skills and analytical skills required.

Excellent project coordinator and organizational skills required.

Must have the ability and willingness to travel.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This position requires some travel across various regions of the state, including employer sites and various campuses.

This position is eligible for the College’s Alternative Work Location arrangement, which would include remote work in addition to some on-site work.
