The Program for Political History and Leadership is a unique program at Arizona State University. The program's mission combines classroom experience and leadership training in the "real" world. Through the leadership program, students are introduced to political, community, and business leaders. The program fulfills Thomas Jefferson's admonition for universities to integrate academic knowledge, beyond narrow specialization or abstract thought, with public life.

Preference for the Program for Political Thought and Leadership scholarship program will be given to students in the undergraduate certificate program in Political Thought and Leadership or who have enrolled in HST/POL 112, “Foundations of Democracy” and/or HST/POL 414, “Political Thought and Leadership Seminar.”
