Postdoctoral Positions on Study of Neurodegenerative Disease

Updated: over 2 years ago
Location: Cleveland, OHIO
Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine

Job description

Two postdoc positions are available in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine to study neurodegenerative diseases.

The lab focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, emphasizing mitochondrial pathology, metabolism, and immune response. We use a combination of in vitro cell culture, in vivo transgenic animal models and patient iPS cells-derived neuron and glia to study the pathogenesis underlying neurodegenerative diseases. Another research focus of the lab is the development of therapeutics for the treatment of human diseases. We have been using the rationally designed peptide inhibitors of protein-protein interactions and high throughput screening to identify mitochondrial enhancers as therapeutic options.

The successful applicants will participate in NIH-funded projects on elucidating the molecular basis of metabolic dysregulation and immune response in neurodegenerative diseases. The applicants must have a PhD and/or MD degree in neuroscience, molecular biology, cell biology, pharmacology, or related field. Candidates with experience in neurodegenerative diseases and transgenic mouse models are highly desired.

Interested individuals should send a cover letter, CV, and the names/phone numbers of three people who could provide letters of reference by email to Xin Qi, PhD, [email protected] .  Please visit our lab website at https://www.xinqi-lab.com for additional information.
