The Princeton University Society of Fellows (SF) in the Liberal Arts in New Jersey supports 4 postdoc scholars for 3 years in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Postdoctoral scholars will teach undergraduate courses and conduct research at Princeton University, located in Princeton, New Jersey. The Princeton Society of Fellows is an interdisciplinary group of scholars in the humanities, social sciences, and selected natural sciences. There are two types of fellowships: open fellowships in the Humanities and Social Sciences (OPEN) and a fellowship in Humanistic Studies (HUM).


Eligibility & Requirements

If already holding a degree: should have received the PhD within the last 2 years. Candidates who are All But Dissertation (ABD): should have completed a substantial portion of the dissertation (approximately half). For ABDs: Applicants should include a letter confirming their “progress to degree” from either the Department Chair or the Director of Graduate Studies. Fellows must reside in or near Princeton during the academic year of their fellowship term. The Society has a particular interest in fostering innovative interdisciplinary approaches in the humanities and social sciences. Cover letter. CV. Dissertation abstract. Writing sample: 1 chapter of the dissertation or one published article. Research proposal. 2 course proposals. Letters of reference from no more than 3 referees. Recipients of doctorates in Education (EdD or PhD degrees), doctorates of Jurisprudence, and holders of PhD degrees from Princeton University are not eligible to apply.
