Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow in solar cell device characterization, device fabrication and material analysis
Department: College of Engineering
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Nanoscale Materials and Devices Laboratory (NMDL) (https://kaulgroup.engineering.unt.edu/) at the University of North Texas, Denton, to conduct research in developing solar cells using novel materials, including those based on perovskites and 2D layered materials. Prior background in solar cell research is highly desired as is prior background on the manufacturing and testing of perovskite based solar cells. The broad research thrusts for NMDL are to synthesize nanomaterials including semiconducting van der Waals solids, such as selenides, sulphides and nanocarbons and characterize their unique properties using a suite of electronic and opto-electronic transport techniques, and integrate these materials into devices for nanoelectronics, flexible electronics, sensors, and solar cells. We are looking for a highly motivated and creative individual, with a particular focus toward photovoltaics (PV) research and perovskite solar cells. Direct, prior hands-on experience in the experimental fabrication and electrical characterization of solar cell materials and devices is a definite plus and highly desirable.
Applicants should have a background in any of the following fields: electrical engineering, materials science, or physics and be self-motivated and goal-oriented. The ideal candidate will have excellent hands-on laboratory skills, analytical thinking and an eye toward detail, good problem solving skills, and a scientific rigor for independent research publishable in reputable peer-reviewed journals. Good written and oral communication skills are also a key attribute to succeed in this position. Must be able to work collaboratively and in a team environment. The research conducted should provide a very good opportunity for the candidate to further develop his/her experimental and analytical skills in solar cell research, nanotechnology for a career in academia, industry or government.
A monthly stipend will be provided and the candidate is expected to work in a fast paced research environment, with a particular focus toward publishing work in peer-reviewed journals. The start date is ASAP. Appointment will be for one year and can be renewed contingent upon satisfactory performance as gauged via the number and the quality of journal publications emerging from the research pursued by the candidate, and the continued availability of funding. If you are interested in being considered for this position, please submit your resume, a short statement of research interests and the names of three references ASAP to Prof. Anupama Kaul (Anupama.Kaul@unt.edu).
