Essential Functions (Job Duties)
The Ahn Laboratory at the Department of Chemistry at Wayne State University seeks motivated and productive postdoctoral candidates with a strong research background in Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, or Cell Biology.
The ideal candidate will carry out NIH-funded projects. We use the interdisciplinary approach to investigate protein cysteine glutathionylation. Candidates will focus on 1) the development and application of chemical probes for chemical proteomic analyses of protein cysteine glutathionylation in cellular and animal models or 2) protein biochemistry and cell biology to study cell signaling and migration regulated by protein glutathionylation.
Essential Functions:
Perform and record research related to protein biochemistry, proteomics, cell biology and molecular cloning, and/or animal cell isolation.
Maintain selected instruments in the laboratory.
Attend group meetings and present the research progress.
Preparing for manuscript of research.
Train graduate students.
Participate in career development along with mentor and mentoring committee.
Attend seminars, meetings, and workshops appropriate with career stage.
Other duties as assigned.
 
Unique Duties
 
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, or any related area of science is required. Candidates should have a research background in chemical biology, protein biochemistry, cell biology, or molecular biology.
Proteomic experience is desirable but not required.
Candidates should have the motivation to explore a new research field and learn new expertise.
