    Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Sleep, Early Adversity and Child Welfare.
     
    The Sleep and Anxiety Center of Houston (SACH) at the University of Houston (UH) is accepting applications for a one to two-year postdoctoral fellowship position to begin in the 2022 (pending final award of funding). The fellow will primarily be responsible for coordinating an NIMH-funded effectiveness-implementation study examining a trauma-informed, behavioral sleep intervention for school-aged children in foster care. Child outcomes of interest include sleep health, emotional/behavioral regulation, and attachment/bonding. Previous training and/or experience in sleep medicine, early maltreatment /trauma, and/or child welfare services are ideal but not required. The fellow will receive mentored training and supervision (from a licensed clinical psychologist) in evidence-based practices for assessing and treating both sleep and trauma-related conditions. Other responsibilities include interacting with local foster care agencies and foster families, report writing, manuscript/grant writing, data management, statistical analysis, and supervising graduate students and research assistants. There are a range of additional opportunities within SACH and the Department of Psychology at UH for conducting clinical research, receiving advanced training, and collaborating with a wide range of behavioral scientists. Eligible candidates should have exceptional organizational, communication, and writing skills, and work well independently. Applicants must have a Ph.D. from an accredited doctoral program in clinical psychology or related field (e.g., applied developmental psychology, social work) including relevant research experience and training in child mental health. The salary and benefits package is highly competitive.
