The Mavigner lab is seeking a highly motivated Post-doctoral Research Fellow to perform basic and translational research
to investigate human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) persistence. LabDr. Maud Mavigner is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Emory University School
of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
Her research focuses on developing strategies to cure HIV using the model of SIV infection

of rhesus macaques. The Mavigner lab is located in the Emory Children's Center Building on Emory’s main campus.
The post-doctoral fellow will join a dynamic and growing team with involvement in large collaborative studies. Research
The key obstacle to cure HIV infection is a reservoir of latently-infected memory CD4+ T cells that persist despite long-term

antiretroviral therapy and is maintained though cellular proliferation. The objective of the proposed projects is to destabilize
the deep core of the persistent viral reservoir by targeting signaling pathways that control the proliferation of long-lived memory
CD4+ T cells. ResponsibilitiesThe post-doctoral fellow will lead a NIH-funded in vivo study in nonhuman primates and
support several in vitro related projects.

This position is ideal for a candidate who has a solid background in immunology and/or virology and is interested in projects with
both basic and translational features.
• Recent Ph.D. (<3 years or current Ph.D. students finishing in 2021 or early 2022)
• Solid background in immunology or virology
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Experience working with the nonhuman primate model preferred but not required
