The Division of Digestive Diseases is seeking a postdoctoral candidate to investigate how a small phospholipid lysophosophatidic acid (LPA) regulates intestinal inflammation and cancer. The overall interest of the lab is to investigate how LPA and LPA receptors regulate intestinal barrier function, immune response, and colon cancer progress. This particular project funded by a NIH grant studies the role of LPA5 receptor in intestinal epithelial cell survival, epithelial barrier function and immunity. The study uses cultured cells, knockout mouse, intestinal stem cells, and other molecular and cellular biological tools. The candidate should have working knowledge of immunology and FACS analysis along with prior experience with breeding, genotyping, and experimenting with rodents. Additionally, the qualified candidates should be able to design experiments, analyze data, and troubleshoot experiments with excellent oral and written communication skills. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to present research findings at conferences, and compose manuscripts.

 

He/she should be able work effectively and collegially with colleagues, and is expected to interact closely with the supervisor through weekly one-to-one meetings and monthly group meetings. A doctoral degree or equivalent (PhD, MD, ScD, DVM, or MD/PhD) in the field of cell biology, immunology, or signal transduction is required. This is a position for a candidate who completed the degree past 3 years.
