Duties & Responsibilities:

The fellow will join a transdisciplinary team under the guidance of Drs. Robert Krafty and Amita Manatunga where they will develop and apply cutting-edge statistical and machine learning methods for analyzing heterogeneous data modalities including newly emerging curve/image (functional) data and high-dimensional vector data. The fellow will participate in research activities such as development of statistical methodology, associated theory, computational tools, algorithm for the analysis and interpretation of data, including images, functional and high-dimensional data. Specific examples of methodological research include but are not limited to:
• Interpretable statistical learning for functional, image and longitudinal image data
• Integrative analysis of heterogeneous data modalities (including functional and high-dimensional vector data) for accurate prediction of disease risk
• Development of efficient clustering algorithms for images adjusting for their metadata
• Reproducibility (agreement) studies on multiple heterogeneous images collected from different anatomic regions


Publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific meetings are expected and encouraged. The fellow will work closely with senior team members to develop and implement a robust professional development plan to achieve personal professional and educational goals.

Position Qualifications: Candidates must hold a PhD, or equivalent, in statistics/biostatistics or relevant areas. Desired skills include proficiency in statistical computing (with R, C, Matlab, or Python), and expertise in some of the following areas. (1) functional data analysis; (2) high-dimensional data analysis; (3) predictive modeling; (4) longitudinal data analysis, and (4) machine learning.
