What You Will Do

The Chemistry for Biomedical Applications team within the Physical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy group is seeking a well-rounded recent Post Bachelors student to join their team. The team works on the development of biosensors, medical radioisotopes, and world health threats.

The student will learn to present their research, and integrate findings with the rest of the team by regularly attending group and team meetings. The student will be responsible for reporting research results back to the team at weekly meetings and keeping official laboratory note books, and contribute to manuscripts and presentations as required. In addition, the student may attend seminars that interest them to expand their own knowledge and broaden their interests. The student will have the opportunity for networking and social events. 

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:


  • General background in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemical/Biological Engineering or related fields.

  • Proven ability to produce quality work by applying attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated experience in gathering and interpreting technical data.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work productively on multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Proven ability to manager time and see tasks to completion

Desired Skills:


  • Some laboratory/research experience in relevant field is desired

Education :


  • A B.S. in one of the following fields of study: Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Analytical Chemistry, or Biophysics (or related fields) within the past three years. B.S should have been completed with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent.

  • Must not be accepted and enrolled in a graduate program (recently enrolled graduate students should explore employment opportunities within the Laboratory’s Graduate Program)

No Clearance:  Position does not require a security clearance.  Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
