PhD position in outdoor and indoor air quality

Job Description: The Department of Environmental and Sustainable Engineering (ESE) in the College of Nanotechnology, Science, and Engineering (CNSE) at the University at Albany, the State University of New York is seeking a motivated Ph.D. student to work in Dr. Aynul Bari’s air quality lab starting from Fall 2024. The prospective student will have the opportunity to work in the EPA’s enhanced air quality monitoring project for underserved communities. Specifically, the student will be involved in low-cost air quality sensor data analysis, indoor and outdoor sample collection and lab analysis for hazardous air pollutants or air toxics, and source apportionment modeling.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate must have a M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization. Preference will be given to students with research experience in air quality sampling, chemical analysis, and source apportionment modeling as well as have working knowledge in Python and/or R. Experience with LC-MS-MS, IC, and GC-MS is preferred.
