Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world-class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community.

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) and Emory University are pleased to offer a one-year non-ACGME accredited Pediatric Neuroradiology fellowship. We currently have openings for the upcoming (2022-23) and future academic years. Candidates should be American Board of Radiology certified or eligible in Diagnostic Radiology and have completed or enrolled in an accredited fellowship in Neuroradiology or Pediatric Radiology. CHOA and Emory University also offer ACGME accredited pediatric radiology and neuroradiology fellowships to eligible candidates.

CHOA is one of the largest pediatric healthcare systems in the United States, with 650 beds across the system, and one of the leading children’s hospitals in the nation. It is comprised of 3 free-standing children’s hospitals in metro Atlanta; Egleston located next to Emory University Hospital, Scottish Rite located to the north of the city, and Hughes Spalding located across the street from Grady Memorial Hospital. There are 2 outpatient imaging facilities in nearby suburbs. Our state-of-the-art equipment includes 8 MRI scanners, 5 CT scanners and 1 PET-CT scanner. An intraoperative 3T MRI scanner is located at Scottish Rite. The new 446-bed Arthur M. Blank Children’s Hospital is currently under construction, slated to open in 2024. CHOA is nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report, including in neurology, neurosurgery and oncology, and is the top Children’s Hospital in the Southeast.  The Children’s Center for Neurosciences Research (CCNR) is ranked as one of the top programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report. The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center located at CHOA is Georgia’s top pediatric cancer research center and is number one in the nation for enrollment into Children’s Oncology Group (COG) therapeutic trials. CHOA has a recognized Level 4 Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and is a Level 1 trauma center.

Dr. Susan Palasis, as the incoming Director of Pediatric Neuroradiology, will lead a team of 10 fellowship trained pediatric neuroradiologists. Our faculty are dedicated to excellence in clinical neuroradiology and research and provide education for Emory medical students, residents, and fellows. The pediatric neuroradiology fellowship provides extensive experience in all neuroimaging modalities, including CT, MRI, PET, SPECT, and advanced neuroimaging techniques, such as perfusion, DTI, MR spectroscopy, and fMRI. Dedicated staff assist with 3D post-processing of advanced neuroimaging examinations. Our neuroradiologists lead multiple interdisciplinary conferences for the fellows to participate in. The fellowship can be tailored to provide candidates greater exposure in any areas of subspecialized interest they may have.

There are numerous opportunities and support for research projects and academic endeavors made possible by the close working relationship with neuroscientists throughout CHOA, Emory University, and the Georgia Institute of Technology. The Emory Department of Pediatrics is currently ranked number 1 in NIH funding for all pediatric departments. The division is supported by 3 full-time medical physicists with MR expertise and 2 research assistants. Emory University is currently installing a 7T MRI and PET/MRI system, which will open up opportunities for collaborative research.
