Position Qualifications - Responsibilities:

The Interdisciplinary Studies Department at Kennesaw State is accepting applications for part-time instructors or part-time assistant professors to teach interdisciplinary undergraduate courses. These courses are most often introductory level (general education), but there may be opportunities to teach other departmental courses as well.

Part-time faculty are hired from this department’s pool of applications on a semester-by-semester basis. Assignments to faculty in the pool are based on departmental needs and are for one or two courses per semester. Applicants may be asked to teach in various modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, online) and courses may be assigned at the Kennesaw or Marietta campus.

Required Education - Experience - Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

Master’s, PhD or other terminal degree, or its foreign equivalent is required.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 18 graduate level credit hours in an area that matches the ISD program in which she or he desires to teach, though relevant professional experience is also considered. Previous college level teaching experience is also ideal.

The Interdisciplinary Studies Department (ISD) houses seven programs: African and African Diaspora Studies, American Studies, Asian Studies, Gender and Women’s Studies, Latin American and Latino Studies, Peace Studies, and Religious Studies.

Each program offers a minor, and the department also offers a B.A. in African and African Diaspora Studies, a B.A. in Asian Studies, a Master’s in American Studies, and courses in Science, Technology, and Society.

In addition to academic programs, faculty are deeply involved in research and community outreach activities and organize several student-oriented conferences each year.
