NC Integrated Care for Kids Communications Intern

Occupational Summary

Provide communications support to the North Carolina Integrated Care for Kids (NC InCK) model as part of the leadership team of the project.

The NC InCK program is a pilot pediatric integrated care delivery and payment model funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation. NC InCK will launch in January 2022 and serve over 90,000 children and youth enrolled in Medicaid and NC Health Choice in five North Carolina counties: Alamance, Durham, Granville, Orange, and Vance. A critical component of the model is the integration of 10 core child service areas to better meet the needs of children and families; including, housing, schools, transportation, early care and education, child welfare, food, juvenile justice, and mobile crisis response. NC InCK is in its second year of planning and development, followed by five years of implementation from 2022 through 2026.

Work Performed

Work with the NC InCK Project Coordinator to support the InCK Leadership Team in drafting and editing communications materials. Examples of project tasks include:

· Formatting core child service guides for care managers on topics such as housing, schools, early care and education, child welfare, and reproductive health.

· Designing monthly internal team newsletters.

· Supporting with scheduling and training for InCK consultants.

· Prepping slides for webinars, team meetings, outreach presentations, and InCK Partnership and Family Council meetings.

· Taking notes and recording action items during team meetings.

· Copyediting deliverables to submit to NC InCK grant funder, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Desired Experience

Undergraduate or graduate student with a background in communications and editing, and can dedicate 10 hours per week for 8 weeks to the InCK project.
