NMFS-Sea Grant Fellowship Program in Marine Resource Economics

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) awards 2 fellowships to marine resource economics PhD students to research at a Sea Grant program for up to 3 years. Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) also give support to students who are interested in careers related to the development and implementation of quantitative methods for assessing the economics of the conservation and management of living marine resources. Fellows will work on thesis problems of public interest and relevance to NMFS under the guidance of NMFS mentors at participating NMFS Science Centers or Laboratories. The NMFS-Sea Grant Fellowships in Marine Resource Economics meets NOAA's Mission goal of "Protect, Restore and Manage the Use of Coastal and Ocean Resources Through Ecosystem-Based Management".


Eligibility & Requirements

Proof of acceptance and enrollment in a PhD graduate program in marine resource economics or related field of study. These are national competitions, and applicants should contact the Sea Grant program in their state (or closest to them). California applicants may apply through either the California Sea Grant Program in La Jolla (San Diego), or through the University of Southern California (USC) Sea Grant Program in Los Angeles.
