Description

The Michel David-Weill Scholarship provides an American student from a Sciences Po partner institution with $80,000 to cover the full cost of attending Sciences Po for a two-year master’s degree. The scholarship covers tuition and fees, housing, books, and other living/travel expenses.

Sciences Po is one of the leading French universities in human and social sciences in France (for more information, visit the Sciences Po website (link is external) ). Applicants who wish to be nominated need to apply to a Sciences Po master's program no later than October 31,2022 via the online application.

Named for Michel David-Weill (b. 1932), an alumnus of Sciences Po and former chairman of Lazard Frères investment bank, and administered by the Michel David-Weill Foundation, the scholarship is awarded every two years to one student who exemplifies the core values embodied by Michel David-Weill: excellence, leadership, multiculturalism, tolerance, and high achievement.

Eligibility

To be considered for nomination by Princeton, applicants must: 

  • be a U.S. citizen;
  • be a Princeton University senior;
  • be between the ages of 19 and 25;
  • have a minimum GPA of 3.7; and
  • apply simultaneously for admissions to one of Sciences Po’s master’s programs.
  • French fluency is expected

Criteria for Selection

Candidates will be selected on the basis of their literary and scholastic accomplishments, their capacity to analyze critically, their character, their instincts to lead, and their commitment to community on a local or global scale. 


Application Procedure

Princeton may nominate one student for the Michel David-Weill Scholarship. If you are interested in being considered for nomination, please contact the Princeton Michel David-Weill Scholarship adviser as soon as possible for information about the nomination process.

Princeton’s nominee will be required to complete the Michel David-Weill Scholarship online application, which includes the following elements: a letter of motivation, four letters of recommendation, and a graded paper from his or her undergraduate studies.

Five finalists will be selected by the Michel David-Weill Scholarship Selection Committee for an interview in New York in January or February. The recipient will be announced shortly thereafter.


Additional Information

There are no constraints on the field of study, although candidates wishing to pursue a Sciences Po master’s program related to economics are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates pursuing the Master of Public Affairs (MPA) or other such executive training courses are not eligible to apply.
