The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), School of Nursing (SON) is currently recruiting for a Manager, Student Scholarships and Grants to support the Office of Student and Academic Services (OSAS).

The manager will manage the business functions of the student scholarships area of Admissions & Student Scholarships in the Office of Student and Academic Services, by supporting the achievement of student educational goals through three main thrusts: providing counseling designed to help students structure their finances in a way that supports their attainment of their educational goals, providing prospective students a realistic picture of their financial outlook prior to enrolling in our programs, and ensuring that scholarships are administered and reconciled accurately. This position supervises one (1) student financial advisor.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Assist students in all aspects of student financial planning and debt counseling programs.
  • Coordinate with the campus University Student Financial Assistance Office, serving as the school’s primary contact.
  • Manage scholarship selection process from determining eligibility criteria, managing deadlines, and advising on appropriate scholarship awards for each student.
  • Understand and be able to communicate to students the complex policies and procedures relating to scholarships and federal aid.
  • Serve as an intermediary between students and the University Student Financial Assistance Office to resolve problems.
  • Manage and monitor the award to the school of private scholarship funds. 
  •  Perform other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree.

Experience: Three (3) years of experience in student enrollment, including admissions, financial aid or financial planning administration or a related field. Experience in financial aid scholarships and a higher education school setting preferred.

Supervisory Experience: Two (2) years of experience preferred.

Other: Related experience may be substituted for education. Clery act designated job as campus security authorities (CSA) member and will comply with Clery Act requirements.

Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently. Hiring Range:$62,000-69,000; commensurate with education and experience
