L'Oreal and American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) award 5 year-long fellowships for US women postdoctoral scholars in STEM-related fields. The fellowship will fund women in science, technology, math, and engineering (STEM) areas, and selected fellows are expected to mentor and support girls and women in the sciences. The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science for the benefit of all people.


Eligibility & Requirements

Candidates must be female scientists who will have completed their Ph.D., D.P.H. or Sc.D. by the end of this calendar year and have started in a postdoctoral research position by the end of this calendar year. M.D.s, D.V.M.s are not eligible. Must be affiliated with a U.S.-based academic or research institution, and research and studies must be conducted in the U.S. Cannot be in a faculty position. Must commit to at least 20 hours of activity in support of women and girls in science (e.g., mentoring, classroom visits, media, events). Must be available week of November 15, 2021 for Women in Science Awards Week. 3 letters of recommendation: 1 letter should be from a mentor or former advisor and 1 letter must be from the applicant's post-doctoral advisor. Proposed research plan. Candidate's statement. Budget and budget justification. Mentoring essay.
