Description   The John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress in Washington DC awards postgraduates with an 8-month fellowship to research cultural traditions. The Alan Lomax Fellows Program provides an opportunity for concentrated use of materials from the Lomax Collection and other collections of the Library of Congress, through full-time residency at the Library. The program supports research projects in different disciplines, with particular emphasis on the traditional music, dance, and narrative of the United States, England, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and the Caribbean, as well as methodologies for their documentation and analysis. The program's goal is to support interdisciplinary and publishable research that will utilize the materials in the Lomax Collection. Fellows can also participate in Kluge Center events. 
Award Amount   Monthly stipend of $4,200 for up to 8 months. 
Disciplines   Humanities. Social Sciences. School of Arts and Architecture. Anthropology, ethnomusicology, ethnography, ethno-history, dance, folklore and folklife, history, literature, linguistics, and movement analysis. 
Academic Level   Postdoctoral Scholar.  
Citizenship   No citizenship requirements.  
Requirements   The PhD degree, or equivalent terminal degree is preferred. CV. Abstract. Statement of proposed research. An explanation of why the Library of Congress is the required venue for the applicant's research. Bibliography. 3 references from people who have read the proposal. Fellows are also expected to make at least 1 public presentation about their research.
